I work at the intersection of law, business, and technology. As the situation requires, I am either a lawyer fluent in computer code or a technologist fluent in legalese. At all times, I understand that practising law is a business and code is never an end unto itself.
Where I come From
My professional experience spans my work in legal marketing at Skunkworks Creative Group as well as my legal career. I was called to the bar in British Columbia in 2009 after articling at a large national firm. I practiced law as a sole practitioner and as in-house counsel for both small and mid-sized businesses. For complete details, please see my LinkedIn profile.
I hold the following degrees:
- J.D from the University of Ottawa – Option in Law & Technology
- M.Sc. from the London School of Economics – Analysis, Design, and Management of Information Systems
- Ba.Hon. from Queen's University – Philosophy & Computer Science
I come from Vancouver.
Where I'm Going
The legal profession is experiencing a period of transition. The traditional legal business model is tired. Neither lawyers nor clients are particularly happy.
There is room to do better. Law firms are experimenting with new ways of doing business and adapting to emerging legal technology. I am part of this change.
